The idle Home screen rotates between two sources of one-liner motivation: a curated collection of 31 quotes you unlock by using the app, and a set of personal notes you can write yourself. This tutorial covers managing both: which quotes to show, what notes to add, and how often each one surfaces during a session.

# Step 1. Open Quotes & Notes

Tap the Settings tab, then tap Quotes & Motivational Notes. The screen has two main sections: Quote Collection at the top, Motivational Notes below.

Each section has a master Show… toggle, a progress indicator, and a manager link to drill into the entries.

# Step 2. Browse and curate the quote collection

Tap Quote Manager. A numbered list of 31 quotes appears. Quotes you’ve already seen on Home are visible (text plus author); quotes you haven’t seen yet are masked with ??? so you don’t spoil them.

Each row has an eye icon. Tap to hide a quote you don’t want to see again. At least one quote must remain visible, so the eye on the last visible one is disabled.

Hidden quotes never show on Home. To bring one back, tap the slashed-eye icon to flip it visible again.

# Step 3. Write your own notes

Back on the main Quotes & Notes screen, tap Edit Notes. Each row has a text field; tap to type your own one-liner. Up to 250 characters per note.

Free users get 5 slots, Pro 8, Premium 10. The progress bar on the previous screen shows how many you’ve used. Empty slots have placeholder suggestions to help you get started.

Each note has a row of small action buttons: Edit, Hide, Delete. Hide takes a note out of rotation without deleting it; useful if a note is too current and you want to revisit it later.

# Step 4. Tune the mix

Below the two manager links there’s a How often a note appears instead of a quote picker. The default is 40%: roughly 4 in 10 idle-screen pulls show one of your own notes; the rest show quotes from the curated collection.

Set it to 0% to never see your notes (only quotes), 100% to never see quotes (only notes), or anywhere between. A sensible setting is 60-80% if you’ve put real effort into your notes; lower if you want a mix.

Quotes only show after they’re unlocked. Until then, the rotation pulls from whatever is currently visible.

# Step 5. Where they appear

Quotes and notes appear in three places:

  • Idle Home screen card (the “between sessions” view)
  • Motivational Alerts during an active session, if you have that toggle on in Alerts
  • Apple Watch home when idle

Each pull is independent: if you see the same quote on Home and on the Watch, that’s the rotation aligning, not a bug. The seed is per-touchpoint, refreshed every few minutes.

That’s the whole motivational system. Curate the curated, write your own, balance the mix.

# What’s next

The wider alerts and notifications tutorial covers what else fires during a session. For deeper customisation of the Home screen and what shows up where, see customising display, haptics, and session control.
