If you don’t want a Pro or Premium subscription but you’d still like to support AlcoLog’s development, the Buy Me a Drink tip jar is a one-tap way to do it. This tutorial covers where it lives, the five tip sizes, and the boundary between tipping and the paid tiers.
# Step 1. Find the tip jar
Tap the Settings tab, then scroll near the bottom. The card titled 🍺 Buy Me a Drink is collapsed by default. Tap Show Tip Options to expand it.
The tip jar lives at the bottom of Settings deliberately: tipping is fully optional, isn’t a paywalled feature, and shouldn’t get in the way of normal app use.
# Step 2. Pick a size
Five consumable tips are available, each with its own emoji and price:
- 🍺 Half Pint ($0.99)
- 🍻 Pint ($2.99)
- 🥃 Double ($4.99)
- 🍷 Buy a Round ($9.99)
- 🍾 Whole Bar ($49.99)
Prices vary slightly by region: Apple sets each currency’s tier independently. UK GBP, EU EUR, AU AUD, and CA CAD all show round-number equivalents.
Tap any row. Apple’s standard purchase confirmation sheet appears (Face ID or Touch ID on your iPhone). The tip is processed by App Store; AlcoLog never touches your card details.
# Step 3. The thank-you
After a successful tip, AlcoLog plays a short confetti animation and a heart-flutter haptic on the Settings screen. The row’s price flips to a green Done! label for three seconds, then resets.
You can tip as many times as you like. Each purchase is independent; there’s no subscription, no auto-renewal.
# Step 4. The boundary
Tipping does not unlock any features. Pro and Premium remain the only paths to features like Favourites, Apple Health sync, location triggers, multi-metric alerts, custom app icons, and the full PDF export.
Tips and subscriptions are separate App Store products and don’t interact. A Whole Bar tip won’t promote you to Pro; a Pro subscription doesn’t include any tips. The two flows live side by side in Settings: subscriptions higher up, the tip jar at the bottom.
That’s the whole tip jar. Five sizes, no obligation, no feature unlocks. If you’ve found AlcoLog useful and want to chip in toward future development, that’s the path.
# What’s next
For the paid tiers and what they actually unlock, see the pricing page on the homepage. To explore the rest of the app, the App Tutorials hub covers everything else.
