AlcoLog can turn what you have logged into a file you can keep or hand to someone else. There are two formats: a PDF report that is laid out to be read, and CSV files of raw data for Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets. Both are built on your iPhone and only leave it when you send them somewhere yourself.

The export covers your finished drinking sessions and, if Sober Mode is on, your Sober Mode record. If you only use Sober Mode and have never logged a session, you can still export: the buttons work with the Sober Mode record alone.

# Step 1. Open Data & Privacy

Tap the Settings tab, then tap Data & Privacy. Scroll past Anonymous Data and iCloud Backup to the Export Data card.

The card has two buttons, Export PDF and Export CSV, and a line or two below them telling you what the next export will include.

# Step 2. Check what Free and Premium include

On the free plan:

  • Export CSV works. It includes your 10 most recent finished sessions, and, if Sober Mode is on, your 10 most recent Sober Mode days with the cravings logged on those days. The card says so: for example 10 of 42 sessions will be included (most recent 10).
  • Export PDF shows a PREMIUM badge. Tapping it opens the upgrade screen instead of making a report.

With Premium:

  • Both buttons work, with no limit. The card reads, for example, 42 history sessions will be included in the exported report, and, with Sober Mode on, Includes your Sober Mode record: every day since you started, with check-ins, cravings and milestones.

Only finished sessions are exported. A session that is still running is left out until you end it. If there is nothing to export yet (no finished sessions and Sober Mode is off), Export CSV does nothing when tapped, and neither does Export PDF on Premium.

# Step 3. Export a PDF report (Premium)

Tap Export PDF. The button reads Generating… for a moment, then ✓ Done!, and the iOS share sheet opens with one file named AlcoLog- plus today’s date, for example AlcoLog-2026-09-28.pdf.

The report opens with the title AlcoLog Report and the date it was generated. What follows depends on what you have logged:

Sober Mode (when Sober Mode is on, this comes first):

  • The date your record starts, then Current sober streak, Best sober streak, Alcohol-free days in total, Days with a drink, Check-ins, Alcohol-free check-ins, Cravings ridden out (the count and the total time), and a Mood line counting each mood you chose (Great, Good, Okay, Low, Awful).
  • Milestones reached: each milestone (One day, One week, One month and so on) with the date you reached it.
  • Daily record: one row per day, newest first, with Date, Status (Alcohol-free or Drinking day), Mood and Notes. Notes say how the day was recorded: Checked in, a drink count when drinks were logged, Marked in History, or No check-in. They also show any reasons you gave for a drinking day (such as Stress or Social) and your check-in note in quotes.
  • Cravings ridden out: the date, time and length of each one.

A day with no check-in still counts as alcohol-free, the same way Sober Mode counts it on Home, but the record labels it No check-in so a reader can tell it apart from a day you confirmed.

Your drinking sessions (when you have any):

  • Summary: Sessions, Total drinks, Total units, Total calories, Water logged, averages per session, and Total spent for each currency you used.
  • By Drink Type, Top Brands and Top Locations (the last two only when you have brand or location data).
  • Monthly Breakdown, a table of sessions, drinks, units, calories and cost per month, plus a Monthly Units Trend chart once you have two months or more.
  • Session Details: every session with its times, totals and each drink (time, type, brand, size, ABV, units, calories, cost, and the favorite or location name if it had one).

# Step 4. Export CSV files

Tap Export CSV. You get one or two files, depending on what you have logged, and the share sheet offers them together.

AlcoLog-<date>.csv, your sessions. One row per drink, newest session first, with these columns:

Session Date, Start Time, End Time, Duration, Drink #, Type, Subtype, Brand, Size, ml, ABV %, Units, Calories, Cost, Currency, Location, Favorite

A session with no drinks logged still gets one row, with Drink # set to 0. Water you logged is included as its own rows.

AlcoLog-Sober-<date>.csv, your Sober Mode record (only when Sober Mode is on). One row per day, newest first:

Date, Status, Source, Mood, Slip Causes, Drinks Logged, Units Logged, Note

  • Status is alcohol-free or drinking day.
  • Source is check-in, logged drinks, marked in History or no check-in.
  • Mood is great, good, okay, low or awful when you checked in with one.
  • Slip Causes lists the reasons you picked for a drinking day, separated by semicolons.

After a blank line, the same file has a second table of cravings with the columns Craving Date, Craving Time, Seconds. The summary figures and milestones are in the PDF only; the CSV holds the day-by-day rows.

Both CSV files use English column names, dates as year-month-day, 24-hour times, and a period as the decimal point in every language, so they open the same way in any spreadsheet app.

# Step 5. Share or save the file

The standard iOS share sheet opens as soon as the file is ready. From there you can Save to Files, AirDrop it to a Mac, attach it to an email or a message, or print the PDF. AlcoLog does not upload the file anywhere; it goes only where you send it.

# Who people share an export with

People send their export to a doctor, counselor or clinic before an appointment, bring the PDF to a support group or a sponsor, give it to a partner or family member, or keep it for a court, employer or program that asked for a record. The PDF is usually the easier one to hand over, since it reads on its own; the CSV is for anyone who wants to work with the numbers.

An export shows what was recorded in AlcoLog. Whether it meets someone else’s requirements is for the person or organization receiving it to decide, so ask them what they need before you send it.
