v1.0.3 of AlcoLog is now on the App Store. Three changes worth highlighting: the feedback prompt got a proper redesign and an honest two-way branch, long-time users now see the prompt less often, and you can redeem App Store promo codes for Premium features directly from inside the app. Plus a couple of small fixes. Full notes below.
# Refreshed feedback prompt
The “Enjoying AlcoLog?” prompt is now a polished sheet with two clear color-coded buttons. Tapping Yes opens Apple’s native rating dialog so you can leave a review on the App Store. Tapping Not really opens a quick in-app feedback form that comes straight to us, so we can address your concerns directly instead of those concerns landing as a one-star review with no context.
The old prompt was a plain alert with confusing options. The new one is honest about the branch: we want feedback from people who like the app to be visible on the App Store, and we want feedback from people who don’t to reach us so we can fix what’s wrong.
# Less frequent prompts for long-time users
We’ve tapered the feedback cadence so power users see prompts much less often:
- Early in your first month with AlcoLog, prompts can appear every 4 to 8 sessions.
- After the first month, prompts only appear every 10 sessions.
The reasoning: you’re here to track your drinking, not to rate apps. The first few prompts catch first-impression feedback while it’s fresh. Beyond that, repeated asks just become noise. The taper means we still hear from you occasionally as the app evolves, but the day-to-day experience stays clean.
# NEW: Redeem Code option in Settings
A new Redeem Code row in Settings > About lets you redeem App Store promo codes for Premium features and other offers without leaving the app. Tap the row, paste or type your code, and the redemption flow handles the rest natively through StoreKit.
If you’ve ever received a promo code from a giveaway, a beta tester reward, a launch-week promotion, or any future offer, this is where you use it. Existing redemption via the App Store still works the same way; this just adds an in-app path for convenience.
# Fixes in this release
- Review prompt now fires correctly on fresh installs after completing onboarding. Previously the prompt could miss its first scheduled trigger on a clean install because the onboarding flow reset the session counter. The fix lands the trigger correctly even after a fresh install + onboarding pass.
- Various stability and polish fixes across the app. Nothing critical, just iterative improvements to the small rough edges that surfaced during launch week.
# How to update
Open the App Store on your iPhone, tap your profile picture, and scroll to Available Updates. If AlcoLog is in the list, tap Update. Your existing data, goal, and preferences all carry over.
If you’re new to AlcoLog, you can download it free on the App Store. No account, no subscription required for standard use.
