AlcoLog 2.0.1 is out on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch. It is a small update with two things people asked for straight after 2.0 and Sober Mode: a backup, and a way to take your Sober Mode record with you. The Android and Wear OS update is with Google now and arrives in the coming days.
# iCloud backup
With Premium, AlcoLog now saves a copy of all your data to your own iCloud once a day: sessions, drinks, Sober Mode, medications, favorites, scanned products and your settings. You can also tap Back Up Now at any time. AlcoLog keeps your three most recent backups and replaces the oldest each time.
If you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone, AlcoLog finds the backup before the welcome screens and offers to put everything back. You can also restore from Settings > Data & Privacy, where the new iCloud Backup card lives.
The backup sits in the private iCloud storage of your own Apple Account. We run no server for it and cannot read it. Apple Health data is never included. If Premium ends, new backups stop, but the ones you have stay yours to restore. The privacy policy has the full detail.
# Sober Mode in your export
Until now the PDF and CSV exports were built from drinking sessions alone, so someone using only Sober Mode had nothing to export. Now both files carry your Sober Mode record: every day since you started, marked alcohol-free or drinking, with your check-ins and moods, the cravings you rode out, and the milestones you reached. The PDF is laid out to share, with a clinician, a support group, a court or a partner. The CSV adds a second file with one row per day, for a spreadsheet.
On the free tier the export includes your 10 most recent Sober Mode days. Premium includes every day, and the formatted PDF report.
# Also in 2.0.1
Bug fixes, including how Sober Mode counts days when you change time zones, and polished translations in all 14 languages.
# Android and Wear OS
AlcoLog 2.0.1 for Android and Wear OS is in Google’s review and arrives in the coming days. It brings the same Sober Mode export and a daily backup to your own Google Drive, in place of iCloud.
